2016
July
- After an incredibly inspiring two weeks checking out the Toronto Fringe Festival and Stratford Shakespeare Festival, I am returning ready to dive into a new teaching project! I will be a guest Teaching Artist this month for the Young Company at Stoneham Theatre. I will be teaching a workshop on creating believable characters when presenting a monologue to students ages 11-14, and I can't wait to get started!
June
From reader to writer! One of my short (and embarrassingly true) stories has been chosen to be performed at the second installment of Grown Up Story Time. We had 300 people crowd the room last time, and the show begins at 7 this round, so make sure you get to the Aeronaut Brewery in Somerville with plenty of time to grab a beer and a seat!
May
- School performance season is in full swing! In the next two months, I will be culminating my year of teaching with Codman Charter Academy's 10th grade with their Spring Showcase, which will be held at the Boston University Theatre (264 Huntington Avenue) at 7pm on Friday, May 13th. My sixth graders at the Jewish Community Day School of Boston will be presenting their production of Twelfth Night on June 2nd, and my third and fourth graders at the Lextended Day program will be presenting a satirical take on Snow White on June 7th. As I will be surviving off of creative fumes and bagels for the next month or so, I am taking a break from performing until June...
- Except for this one thing! I will be performing in the inaugural Grown Up Story Time, presented by BooTown Boston, at the Aeronaut Brewery on 18 Tyler Street in Somerville. The performance is free and begins at 8:00, but make sure you arrive early as we are expecting quite a crowd! The show is essentially The Moth with a twist, where actors read the (usually) true stories that others have bravely committed to paper. It's going to be a wonderful evening!
March
I will be performing in Open Theatre Project's Spring SLAM, in a short play entitled "Bar Belle". It's a great piece that deals with perception and labels in the LGBTQ community and how they can both foster and fracture relationships. Performances will be at the Boston Playwright's Theatre, 949 Commonwealth Avenue, at 8pm. Tickets are $20 and can be bought at the door. Oh yes - you get to vote for your favorite show, so bring your strong opinions!
January
- Citizens of the Empire has opened to full houses and great reviews! This has been such a unique and rewarding experience and I am so proud to be a part of this premiere. Tickets can be found at Boston Theatre Scene and we run through the 23rd (Boston weather forecasts be damned). I hope you can join us in our interplanetary adventure. Production photos will be up soon!
