2014
August
And with the closing of the show comes a hiatus from the stage. It's been a wonderful, almost two-year run of back-to-back-shows, and I am incredibly happy with my time in Boston thus far, but the next step in my career needs to be figured out and I can't do that rushing around with zero downtime. I will be continuing my Teaching Artist work and have some exciting projects coming up for 2015. Until then, here's a great article on women in theatre that EDGE Boston did with the female actors in Wonder of the World.
July
Wonder of the World has opened to enthusiastic audiences and the reviewers have been very kind to me and my cast! The show runs July 24th - August 9th at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in Watertown and discount tickets are available on Goldstar.
May
- I will be performing with Fort Point Theatre Channel in their production of Bohemians, an original theatrical collage of dance, music, and theatre to commemorate the release of the graphic novel collection Bohemians: A Graphic History. I will be acting as an emcee as well as a backup singer, and performing a poem as Emma Goldman. The performances are free and will take place the weekend of May 10th. More information can be found on the company's website.
- The Codman Showcase will take place at the Boston University Theatre on May 20th, as part of their partnership with the Huntington Theatre. This is my second year in this residency and this year the students have written part of the showcase themselves, drawing their inspiration from Howard Zinn's A Young People's History of the United States. The performance will start at 7pm and is free to the public.
- I will also be featured in three short plays during Heart & Dagger Productions' second annual SexFest, a night of comedy that celebrates one of the most basic but complicated human acts. The festival will run in rep with Charles Mee's Jesus. Tickets and information can be found here.
April
- I have been cast in David Lindsay-Abaire's Wonder of the World, which will be presented by Titanic Theatre Company starting in late July. I'll be playing "Janie", along with other incidental characters. The role is a character actor's dream come true and I can't wait to get started with such a great company!
- I have been hired as a Teaching Artist and director at a JCDS in Watertown! I'll be directing the school's 6th graders in a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, which will be going up at the beginning of May. These kids are incredible and I can't wait to see the final product!
March
- What Once We Felt opened to strong crowds and a great review from our preview performance! It's not every day that I get compared to Mme. Defarge, and I'll gladly take it. This show is selling well, so get your tickets now! They can be found at a discounted price here as well as here once the discounted tickets sell out.
- I have also been hired as a tour guide with Cambridge Historical Tours, a company that encourages tourists and natives alike to "laugh as [they] learn". As a history fanatic and extrovert, I am beyond excited to start! Look for me this summer donning Edwardian garb in Harvard Square!
February
- I'm thrilled to announce that I will be working with Flat Earth Theatre this March, playing "Cheryl" in the New England premiere of What Once We Felt, a science fiction that explores the conflict between the haves and have-nots as well as what consequences our dependence on technology might bring. The show will run March 14th-22nd at the Davis Square Theater in Somerville, MA. More information can be found on the company's website.
- Hidden Faces of Courage continues to run, now in an educational theatre version. We recently performed at a youth center in South Boston and it was an incredibly emotional, rewarding experience. I hope that I have more HFOC news to share with you soon!
- Last but certainly not least, Hairy Tales (which Puss in Boots was a part of) was nominated for 9 IRNE Awards, including Best Ensemble. I am incredibly proud to have been a part of that ensemble and am so happy that the cast and crew are reaping the benefits of the work and passion that was put into the production.
